Paint the Town Pinwheel Blue for Child Abuse Awareness
ORANGE CITY, Fla.—The pinwheel – an uplifting symbol of childhood – is serving a new purpose this October. The VIA Orange City Woman’s Club, is sponsoring the ‘Pinwheels for the Prevention,’ campaign, which raises the awareness of child abuse in America.
The Pinwheels for Prevention campaign is part of a national movement to change the way we think about prevention. As part of the campaign, the VIA Orange City Woman’s Club is working to distribute materials that promote a better understanding of child and family development.
To increase awareness, the VIA Orange City Woman’s Club will be selling pinwheels at the October 3 Movie in the Park and at the Farmers’ Market on Oct 10. The pinwheels will be placed in a garden at Dickinson Park and remain on display from October 10-19.
“Pinwheel gardens planted in communities across the nation serve as powerful visual reminders that we all play a role in ensuring happy and healthy childhoods for children everywhere,” says Priscilla Ballasy, president of the Orange City VIA Woman’s Club.
