The assembly was called to order by Joanne McWaid, president. After the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of America the Beautiful, Mayor Anthony Yebba read a Proclamation honoring the VIA Orange City Woman’s Club. A delightful luncheon was served by members of the Men’s Bible Study Group of the First Congregational Church of Orange City, and the repast was concluded with a serving of anniversary cake. An intermission followed the luncheon.
The Orange City Trio offered a musical presentation “Evening on the Sea,” conducted by Franz Behr. “Vignettes of Yesteryear,” a skit compiled by Sallee Hardy and Virginia H. Martin from recorded minutes of the VIA, Orange City Library Association archives, the Volusia Record (a DeLand Weekly), DeLand Sun News, and early VIA treasurers’ records was presented by members.
A candle ceremony honored each president who served during the 100 years. The Roll Call and Collect concluded the program.
